Thanks to all of our supporters for their hard work - elementary band and strings are safe for the 2010-2011 school year. However, our fight is still not over - there is still much work to do!  Myrtle Beach and AIA Championship Results!
The trip to Myrtle Beach and AIA Championships was a great success!
All of our ensembles played incredibly well!
Jazz Band - Superior (I) Rating, 2nd place overall
Concert Band - Superior (I) Rating, 1st place overall
Symphonic Band - Superior (I) Rating, 1st place overall
Individual awards for outstanding soloists (these students received individual medals and trophies):
Andrew Jordan and Janet Christensen (Jazz Band)
Celine Serrano (Concert Band)
Andy Eshbach, Tommy Scibilia and Elizabeth Szabo (Symphonic Band)
Symphonic Band also won the Championship Trophy for being the top scoring instrumental group of the day. The combined scores of Jazz Band, Concert Band and Symphonic Band also earned the Fairfax Bands the title of GRAND CHAMPION for all of Fiesta-Val and earned us a HUGE trophy (it's larger than a lot of the freshmen!)
AIA Finals
Guard finished their season with their best performance of the year AND increased their score yet again! Unfortunately, they were not selected to continue beyond the preliminary round, but they ended their season on the highest note. Congrats to all of our guard members for a great season!!!
Drumline finished prelims in first place, on the heels of THEIR best performance of the year. Sunday’s show was still very good but we finished in 3rd place, earning a bronze medal (students are given individual medals). They are the first Fairfax Drumline to medal at AIA for several years, and they did so in a very competitive Scholastic Open class, so we are very proud of them and their accomplishments! |
