Marching Rebels Earn Superior Rating at VBODA
On Saturday, October 29 at the annual VBODA Assessment, the Marching Rebels earned straight ones from the judges in all seven categories, for an overall
superior rating. The event took place in the West Springfield High School gymnasium due to the inhospitable weather outside.
The Marching Rebels' hard work continued to pay off as the band succeeded brilliantly at the James Madison University Parade of Champions on October 24, 2011.
Despite facing tough competition in a class of 9 bands, many with more players and from larger schools, Fairfax took first in the AAAA Class, also winning
Best Percussion and Best Music, and tying for Best General Effect. Congratulations to all of the band members, Mr. Johnson, and the dedicated volunteers!
In Haymarket, VA, on the cold, wet night of October 1, the Marching Rebels won not only Best Music, Best Marching, Best Drum Line, Best General Effect, Best Drum Majors, First Place Auxiliary, and First
Place Over All in our class, but our band also took the Grand Champion Honors as well.
On September 14 at the USSBA Marine Corps Invitational at the Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD, in addition to placing first
in their class, taking all captions, our Marching Rebels won the prestigious Esprit de Corps Award. Of all the bands in the competition, this award
was given by the Marine Corps to the band which best exemplified the characteristics of pride, professionalism and patriotism.
