JMU COMPETITION DAY!
October 20, Parade of Champions at JMU:
Eat lunch before you arrive and bring money for concessions or a bag dinner. Dress for the weather, wear layers and bring a raincoat. Be prepared; this is the biggest competition of the season. We are leaving early to watch other bands; it will be a fun, exciting and long day!
11:30 AM: Truck loading crew reports, load truck
12:30 PM: ALL MB MEMBERS report to FHS band room; arrive wearing show shirts, shorts/leggings, black socks, and Drillmasters. Bring sweats and fleece, rain jacket to wear over show shirt for cold weather. Bring in your garment bag complete uniform including; bibbers and jacket. Remember you instrument and accessories. (Double check before you leave home that you have your complete uniform in your garment bag)
12:30 PM: Parent volunteers report
1:15 PM: Truck leaves for Harrisonburg
1:15 PM: Load buses, students carry hat boxes (put your gloves inside); Flutes, clarinets and hat boxes go on the bus in the overhead compartments; larger instruments, trombones etc, flags, coolers and garment bags go neatly under the buses
1:30 PM: Buses leave FHS for Harrisonburg
4:00 PM: Buses and truck arrive at JMU; students and volunteers must either have a wristband* or a ticket and enter the stadium through Gate A to watch the competition and go to concessions. Students must stay in groups of 3 or more if leaving their seats and must tell a chaperone; remember you are representing FHS Marching Rebels at all times, both on and off the field. (*there are a limited number of wristbands for volunteers)
6:45 PM: All band members, chaperones and parent volunteers leave the stadium to return to the truck and buses
7:00 PM: FHS MB and PIT unload truck and buses, change into uniforms, prepare for warm-up (BUS 2 band members, please exit the bus as quickly as possible so color guard can have privacy to change and complete make-up and hair on the bus)
8:15-8:45 PM: Warm-up, in designated warm-up area
9:00 PM: Marching band and PIT at gate C
9:15 PM: FHS performance time. MB return to stadium seats through Gate A immediately after performance. Sousa, pit, battery, color guard with flags and prop, and pit parent volunteers, return to the truck, quickly load truck and return to stadium to watch JMU band and awards. Truck returns to bus/truck parking area.
10:45 PM: Marching Dukes perform
11:00 PM: Awards
11:30 PM: Return to buses as a group, load buses
12:15 AM: Leave for FHS
2:30 AM: Return to FHS, unload buses, unload truck

Color Guard Students:

arrive at the band room carrying uniform and shoes and wearing warm layers under after performance uniform

Restrooms: Portable toilets will be available in the parking lot. Restrooms will be available inside the stadium.
Spectator Information:
For Parents & Spectators Ticket Sales (tickets are only sold at the event)
Ticket prices for the event are $15.00 for adults and $10.00 for students (with ID) and seniors. When admission is purchased, individuals will receive a wristband that will allow admission to the event all day. Wristbands are sold at the contest entrance from the Bridgeforth Ticked Booth “A.” Concessions are available.
Directions to Harrisonburg:
Spectator Directions • From I-81, take EXIT 245 (Port Republic Road) and head WEST on Port Republic Road. • The main campus entrance will be on the right just past the I-81 overpass. • Turn RIGHT onto Bluestone Drive. • Follow Bluestone Drive to the first stop sign. You will see the stadium on your left. • Turn LEFT at the stop sign onto Champions Drive. This will take you to the stadium parking deck and stadium entrance.
