Happy New Year! I hope that your holidays were fun and relaxing. Now that we’re beginning the new year (and the last half of the school year!), it’s time for some calendar and money updates for the band program.
Pre-Assessment Concert: February 28th @ 7:00pm (FHS Auditorium)
Dress Rehearsal/Run through February 27: 3:30 - 6 p.m.
VBODA Assessment: March 15th/16th @ TBD (Centreville HS)
Dates/Times are TBD, but have generally followed:
March 15: Concert Band (during school day, extending through afternoon)
March 16: Symphonic and Wind Ensemble TBD
Spring Concert: May 28th @ 7:00pm (FHS Auditorium)
Dress Rehearsal/Run through May 24th: 3:30-6 p.m. *******This is a change! And Mr. B is aware that the dress rehearsal is Friday afternoon before Memorial Day weekend. He is working to change this but be prepared! *********
Please note that there is NO boot camp scheduled for Jan. 26. According to Mr. B, “Every band class from now until assessment is boot camp.”
Fruit Sales Fundraiser!
The Indian River fruit sale is fast approaching! Families, please plan to sell at least one box of fruit to support the band boosters as we push for new school instruments and other equipment. The official sale starts on January 28 (online and face-to-face sales) and will run for approximately two weeks. We earn $8 per box and Indian River has responded to our feedback by changing the packaging from boxes to trays to eliminate the "squish" factor. Tell your friends and family!
Save the Dates for Marching Band
Great news that the 2019 marching band show is in the final stages of show design! Mark your calendars with the summer schedule now.
August 5-9 August 12-16 August 19-23
Please sign into myschoolbucks and pay class fees for concert, symphonic, wind ensemble and jazz bands. These fees are already PAST DUE. Students will receive invoices this week for these fees.
Please use myschoolbucks to pay all your band fees so that Mr. B spends his time working with your students INSTEAD of dealing with paperwork (very time consuming with 175 students). If you need help using myschoolbucks, please email Jaimee Nygaard.
Winter Drumline fees are due now. Make sure your payments are up-to-date!
FHS Band, Chorus, and Orchestra Spring Trip, Orlando, FL, March 20-24, 2019:
Orlando spring trip third payment of $200 is due on Monday, January 21.

November 19, 2018 $300.00
January 21, 2019 $200.00 Non-refundable**
February 18, 2019 Balance Non-refundable***
TOTAL approx. $850
*Deposit is non-refundable. If a student needs to withdraw from the trip, notification must be received prior to January 21st, 2019.
**After this date, the trip becomes a financial obligation.
*** No student will be allowed to board the bus for the trip unless the class fee and trip fee is paid in full.

Please mark your calendars with the last three concert dates for the year. These dates require mandatory attendance for class grades and include Concert Band, Symphonic Band, and Wind Ensemble.
