Monday, January 21: 3rd TRIP PAYMENT WAS DUE - Go to myschoolbucks and make that 3rd payment ASAP
Monday, January 28: Fruit Sales Begin
Thursday, January 31: Band Booster Meeting, 7 pm
This Thursday at 7pm (probably in the orchestra room) is our booster meeting. One change I am considering for the fall/summer season is when marching band rehearses.
I am looking to shift some of our rehearsals to later in the evening and on different days to give us better access to the turf field. Additionally, it would facilitate our staff (professional musicians and teachers with full-time gigs) being able to attend more of rehearsal, offering a better experience for the students all around.
While I have been weighing a variety of factors and feel confident about my rationale, I want to hear from parents/students before I make the final decision.
No schedule will be a “perfect” fit and the decision has to be made for the greater good, but I definitely want folks to have the opportunity to be heard.

Fruit Sales Fundraiser!
It's time! The 2019 Annual Fruit Sale Fund-raiser is on! FHS Band students all received the Order Form, and Payment envelope in class this week. Extra order forms are available in the band room.
The online sales site for the fund-raiser is now active: Florida Indian River Fruit Sales
Reminder for District Band members: this weekend is your only fully free weekend to sell door-to-door before our sale ends!
A few changes to note:
new protective packaging in trays with precise quantities
new larger $40 boxes that give us $11 (vs. $8) per box sold
there is no spot on the order form to put the $40 box orders, so please just either put in the small margin on the form or simply annotate the order specifically as a $40 in one of the existing columns.
Upcoming Concert Dates:
Pre-Assessment Concert: February 28th @ 7:00pm (FHS Auditorium)
Dress Rehearsal/Run through February 27: 3:30 - 6 p.m.
VBODA Assessment: March 15th/16th @ TBD (Centreville HS)
Dates/Times are TBD, but have generally followed:
March 15: Concert Band (during school day, extending through afternoon)
March 16: Symphonic and Wind Ensemble TBD
Spring Concert: May 28th @7pm (FHS Auditorium)
Dress Rehearsal/Run through May 24th: 3:30-6pm
FHS Band, Chorus, and Orchestra Spring Trip, Orlando, FL, March 20-24, 2019:
October 15, 2018 $100.00 Non-refundable*
November 19, 2018 $300.00
January 21, 2019 $200.00 Non-refundable**
February 18, 2019 Balance Non-refundable***
TOTAL approx. $850
*Deposit is non-refundable. If a student needs to withdraw from the trip, notification must be received prior to January 21st, 2019.
**After this date, the trip becomes a financial obligation.
*** No student will be allowed to board the bus for the trip unless the class fee and trip fee is paid in full.
